A phantom channel is a marble route that emerges from placing particular roons next to each other.

Normally, a chain of paths provides only one route for a marble to go down:

But if we place two chains of paths together, a third channel appears between them:

We refer to this emergent route as a phantom channel. Only particular pieces like paths and shimmies produce phantom channels.
